Upon graduating from Texas A&M University in 2017, I landed a job with an incredible film production company I had admired for a while, Fin and Fur Films. What started as a part time social media gig quickly evolved to a full time production job and a head first dive into the wildlife and environmental filmmaking world. I learned how to apply my journalism background to documentary film production, and have utilized photography, graphic design, and writing skills throughout various film and book projects over the years. I’ve been fortunate to travel all across Texas and the Western US with my wonderful teammates to document diverse wildlife and landscapes, share conservation stories, and advocate for the necessity of protection and action to conserve our wildlife and wild places.
Deep In The Heart
Deep in the Heart is a visually stunning celebration of Texas’ diverse landscapes and remarkable wildlife found nowhere else. Narrated by Matthew McConaughey, the film aims to conserve our remaining wild places, to show the connectivity of water and wildlife, and to recognize Texas’ conservation importance on a continental scale.
The film’s accompanying book - written by Ben Masters, Katy Baldock, and Jay Kleberg; and designed by Katy Baldock - takes a deeper dive into the wildlife and conservation stories showcased in the movie and features the best photos from the making of the film.
American Ocelot
American Ocelot tells the story of one of the most endangered and beautiful wild cats in the country. With fewer than 120 remaining in the US, ocelots are genetically isolated and only exist in Texas. With many factors acting against them, there is still hope for their survival… if opposing parties can come to an agreement on their management methods. Follow filmmaker Ben Masters as he sets out to capture the first ever high quality footage of American Ocelots in the wild and meets with stakeholders along the way.
